Some classes like English allow students to listen to music while they are independently writing. Music classes may allow students to listen to class related songs. Generally, most teachers will not allow students to listen to music because it is an unnecessary distraction to what you need to do in class.
While it may be more entertaining to listen to music while your doing math problems or history assignment, are you really focusing on your work or on what song is next on the playlist? If your teacher has not specifically indicated if they allow music in their classroom, you need to ask. Don't presume you can.
