Academics

Pioneer High School promotes academic rigor, in-depth study, challenging coursework, and a range of study that complements a variety of student interests. One common academic focus for all classes is "Close Reading". "Close reading" is thoughtful, critical analysis of a text that focuses on significant details or patterns in order to develop a deep, precise understanding of the text's form, craft, meanings, etc.

The core course curriculum is college preparatory, with honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes and allows for the individual progression of students’ aptitudes and interests during their stay at PHS.  For students who choose to focus on a more direct career path, Pioneer High School also offers courses to explore a number of career fields including agriculture, and computer technology. The high school education program is structured so that every student has the opportunity to fulfill graduation and college entrance requirements.
