PHS Career Pathways
(Proposed- Under Construction)

Career Pathways are broad groupings of careers that share similar characteristics and whose employment requirements call for many common interests, strengths and competencies. The desired outcomes of Career Preparation are student achievement and ultimate success in a career(s) of choice.

Career Pathways provide a useful framework to aid both students and educators in making those meaningful connections to the working world. Currently PHS has 7 Pathways available to our students.  Not only do students have an option to choose a Pathway, they can also specialize in a specific "emphasis" within that Pathway.  A Career Pathway is flexible.
As a student progresses and learns more about a specific career area, he/she may:

1.  Remain in the same career pathway throughout high school;
2.  Switch career pathways to explore an additional career area; or
3.  Enroll in a multi-credit career/technical program designed to help students develop knowledge and skills related to a specific occupation.  Many multi-credit career/technical programs offer both high school and postsecondary credit.

Choices of Pathway and Subject emphasis are subject to change due to student, staff and employer demand in the future.
